Like most charities in Nottinghamshire we have faced massive cuts in grant aid from local authorities who used to provide a lot of financial support for our Centres in Beeston and Eastwood. The funding climate for all charities is now much more difficult, as everyone is in competition for what funds are available to the voluntary sector. We believe that funders are more likely to fund us if we do our best to help ourselves.
We have our own fundraising group, Friends of Voluntary Action Broxtowe, who organise fundraising events throughout the year to raise much needed funds for the Centre.
How can YOU help us?
Come along to our events at Oban House, Beeston – We have organized Car Boots, vintage tea parties and Book Fairs, themed events throughout the summer. We also organize a regular Vintage Tea Parlour at Oban House each Friday plus raffles and special Christmas events. Check out all our events on the calendar.
Donate items for us to sell on E-bay or at our car boots – Things that are easy to post, old linen items especially those with embroidery or lace, tablecloths, pillowslips or sheets, small items of glass and china, old costume jewellery, anything from the Art Deco period, unwanted gift sets, toys etc all sell well on E-bay.
Also we always need more books – paperbacks or hardbacks in good condition for our Book Fairs. Just drop items off at Oban House any time 9-5 Monday to Friday, or we can collect if necessary.
Use our reprographics service – We can print high quality leaflets and posters for your group or your event. We also produce booklets, invitations and programmes, all at remarkably low rates, and we can help with design if you are stuck for ideas.
Use our rooms for your training, meeting or one-off event – We have five lovely rooms available for hire by the hour with prices starting at £8 an hour for a small meeting room up to £12 for a fully equipped training room which includes free parking and free tea and coffee. More details in room hire.
