First Steps

Training and social care for people with disabilities and long term conditions, to gain confidence and learn new skills.

Learning and support is tailored to individual needs.

It has been shown that volunteering can help improve and maintain well being by:-

Increasing confidence, motivation and self-esteem
Reducing isolation by improving your social life and extending support networks

Providing structure and routine – preparing people for the workplace
Giving more direction and meaning to life – a sense of achievement

Helping people feel good about themselves – using existing or new skills
Learning new skills

  • Confidentiality – a sensitive, empathic and non-judgmental approach to identify your aspirations
  • Support – a plan agreed mutually to empower and enable you achieve your own goals
  • Training – as part of the plan to improve or enhance existing skills or education
